After falling from a lift at the Méribel resort in France, a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, who has not had his name released by authorities, was riding a chair lift with a female friend right be fore the fall. Though several first responders and doctors did what they could to resuscitate the man, they were not able to do so.

A full investigation is being done by local authorities, including questioning of the female friend by police and medical examiners doing a full examination of the man. There is still a question of the man being in distress prior to the fall and the question of how he was able to fall from a lift equipped with a safety bar.
