Avalanche Death In The Utah -- R.I.P.
Though less than a month into 2019, this year has seen many avalanche deaths all over the world. On Saturday the 19th another skier fell victim to an avalanche in Utah.
Michael Besendorfer, 26, and a friend were skiing north of Electric Lake on Friday. One of the men finished the run, but found that his friend did not come down behind him. After he performed a quick search, he called local authorities for help.
Local search and rescue crews, including Emery County Sheriff's Department, started a search at around 8 P.M. and searched until midnight. With the help of a rescue dog, crews found the body of Besendorfer at around noon Saturday.
The Utah Avalanche Center has said that this is the first avalanche related death in Utah since 2016.
