Teenager Dies In Austria - Avalanche

While on vacation in Austria, a family of four, a father, mother, and two sons, were victims of an avalanche in which one of the teenage sons did not survive.

Though the rest of the family were unharmed in the slide, the mother of the family was also buried, but able to free herself. The 16-year-old son was buried completely and was not able to be freed by the family.

Rescuers were able to dig the boy out of the snow in approximately 20 minutes, but were not able to revive him.

This sad event was in St. Anton, Austria, which was going to be the host for a Ladies World Cup event this weekend. That event has been cancelled due to safety issues concerning avalanche risk.
