UPDATE -- Skier Killed In Taos Avalanche Has Been Identified

The skier who died in an avalanche in Taos on January 17 has been identified as 26-year-old Matthew Zonghetti of Mansfield, MA.

Zonghetti was one of two men that were caught in that avalanche, though was the only one of the two to have died as a result.

Home Avalanche Tragedy -- Two Men Caught In New Mexico Avalanche, One Has Died Thursday morning saw more avalanche tragedy for the 2019 ski season, this time on Kachina Peak at Taos, New Mexico. At 11:45 AM, an avalanche broke free from the peak and consumed two skiers that were coming down the K3 chute from the Kachina Peak.
