Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen Takes GOLD Over Marcel Hirscher
Norwegian skier Henrik Kristoffersen was able to pull off a huge victory today having taken the Gold medal in Giant Slalom over the favored Marcel Hirshcer.
In what would be his podium run, Kristoffersen attacked the course hard, despite the condition it was in. At times one could him fighting against the ruts that had begun to form at the turns. Even with the condition of the course, Kristoffersen was able to keep up his pace all the way to the bottom, not losing any time during the run.
Austrian superstar Marcel Hirscher, who holds a commanding lead in overall points, is usually favored in these events. However, this time he was only able to come away with a silver medal run. Rounding out the podium with the Bronze was the other big name in Men's Alpine skiing, Alexis Pinturault.
All three men on the podium for this event are also at the top in overall points, with Hirscher leading, Pinturault in second, and Kristoffersen in third.
