For us here in the United States, this weekend has been about getting ready for today, St. Patrick's Day! For our Russian friends, this weekend is part of the annual BoogelWoogel Festival in Sochi.

Thousands of visitors flock to Rosa Khutor mountain resort clad for this annual event, now in its fourth year. Rosa Khutor was home to some of the events for the 2014 Olympics.

Though festival visitors show up clad in tons of different costumes, the festival might be best known for the swimsuit ski day, which is exactly as it sounds. hundreds of the participants get down to their swimsuits, both men and women, and take a few runs down the hill. The 2018 event saw 2,000 skiers and riders wearing swimsuits on the hill, which awarded the festival with a Guinness world record.

From the looks of it, the Russian people know how to throw a ski party. Perhaps 2020 might be the year to take off St. Patrick's Day and try something new? Better yet, head over to Sochi dressed as a leprechaun. It's almost guaranteed to be more than welcome.
