An Avalanche In Switzerland Kills Four

As the winter continues in the Valais region of Switzerland, local police have reported that four skiers were caught in and killed by an avalanche Friday, April 26. This is just the latest of several such incidents in the region during this winter.

Currently, the identities of the victims have not been released, but it has been confirmed by authorities that this was a group of German tourists. A search began when the group was reported as not arriving at their destination Friday but had to be called off due to poor weather.

On Saturday search teams were able to locate the four victims, though at that point the mission was one of recovery, not rescue.

A full investigation is in progress, as well the process to identify the victims.
