It is being reported that a man, who goes by the trail name "Sovereign", was allegedly making threats to other hikers on the Appalachian Trail. This man has recently been taken into custody by authorities.

Initial reports of this man came when a warning was put out by the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department, Tenn. Sheriff Mike Hensley reported that the man had threatened other hikers in Madison County, N.C. and could be headed into Tenn. There were also reports that the man was armed with a machete.

There were reports later on that the Madison County Sheriff's Office in N.C. had made contact with the individual in question and determined that he made no threats and was not armed, but carrying a guitar.

A final report on this story again came from Unicoi County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Mike Hensley reports that his department not only made contact with the man but had arrested him on several charges, including drug and paraphernalia. The suspect was also found to have a machete that was over 20 inches in length.

The hiker was then identified as 30-year-old James Jordan of Massachusetts. He is currently being held in the Unicoi County Jail.
