Though the title comes off a little dramatic, it is something to be mindful of when spending the offseason hiking in and around areas with winter avalanche mitigation.

This report comes from ABC4 from Salt Lake City Utah and is reported from Big Cottonwood Canyon. However, this could be something that can be seen in any area that uses explosives as part of their avalanche mitigation programs.

As reported, the explosives are really nothing to worry about. The signs talked about in this report are there to serve as a warning, not to scare people out of the area. It really just comes down reporting anything that might be an issue to the U.S. Forest Service or other local authority.
