This past Tuesday, April 9, a heliskiing tour turned tragic as two people, from a group of five, were killed in an accidental fall near Orsières, Switzerland.

According to local authorities, the group was dropped via helicopter on the Plateau du Trient. From there the group skinned to the summit of Pointe d'Orny.

During the descent of the Arpette Glacier, the group's guide and one client fell several hundred meters. Neither of the victims survived.

At the time of the accident, the rest of the group were able to alert local authorities for help, but the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The rest of the group was taken out of the area by helicopter without any other issues.

The victims have only been identified as a 34-year-old local guide and a French national.
