UPDATE -- Man Killed In Mt. Washington, NH Avalanche Identified

The man who was killed in the April 11 avalanche at Mt. Washington, NH has been identified by local authorities.

Nicholas D. Benedix, 32, was the man that was killed while skiing in the area known as Raymond's Cataract.

Benedix was skiing alone when he was buried by a human-triggered avalanche, which was initially reported to be in Tuckerman Ravine. Rescuers dug Benedix out of the snow, reported as over a meter deep. He was then airlifted from the scene but pronounced dead soon after.
