Dr. Samuel Caruthers, 47, was convicted in April of third-degree child endangerment, simple assault, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. Recently the doctor was sentenced in regard to those convictions.

Caruthers was found guilty of assaulting a 12-year-boy in 2016 at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon Township, NJ. It was reported that Caruthers had not only punched the youth but stabbed him with a ski pole. Caruthers claimed he was protecting his 10-year-old son who was in a collision with the 12-year-old.

For those crimes, Caruthers will be serving several years probation, however, he will have some jail time as well. He is to spend 24 hours straight in the Sussex County jail on February 14 for the next three years. The bizarre sentence was chosen specifically by the judge due to the date the incident took place.
