Appalachian Trail Helicopter Rescue In Maine -- VIDEO

A Maine Forest Ranger helicopter assisted in an Appalachian Trail rescue this past Saturday, July 13, by plucking an injured hiker from the AT in Elliotsville Township.

It is being reported that a female hiker was on a difficult section of the Appalachian Trail when she fell and broke her ankle. She was unable to walk out on her own. It was decided by local rescue authorities to use the helicopter to perform a short-haul rescue of the victim.

As can be seen in the video the helicopter was able to lower the rescue team and victim to waiting EMTs. This successful joint operation involved members of the Maine Forest Rangers, Maine Game Wardens, and EMTs and firefighters from Monson Fire-Rescue.
