Sepp Haidacher - Bobsleigh Coach And "Godfather" Of Jamaican Bobsleigh Has Died

A very well respected coach in the sport of Bobsleigh, Sepp Haidacher passed away earlier this week at the age of 78.

Though known throughout the world for his part as Captain on 1984 Olympic Austrian Bobsleigh Team, followed by coaching the Taiwan team, it could be said that he found an almost celebrity status by helping and being a coach for the Jamaican Bobsleigh team.

He met the Jamaican Team in 1987 in Austria and worked with the sports governing bodies to allow the team to compete in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary. The following year he was made an official part of the team as coach, mentor, and is regarded as the "Godfather" of Jamaica bobsleigh.

It was has been reported that Haidacher passed away on the 10th of July and will be laid to rest today, July 17th, in Voldöpp, Austria.
