In the coming years, Deer Valley Resort in Utah is going to have a new neighbor in the form of a brand new, state of the art new ski mountain, one of the first in the country in almost 40 years.

Mayflower Mountain Resort, a project from New York city developer Extell Development Company (EDC), has already begun to see some construction in the forms of roads and other infrastructure for the resort and village.

The plan for the resort village, according to a report from KSL.com, is to have three hotels. One of those is going to include a convention center and 100 subsidized rooms with discounts for active and retired members of the military and their families. This building, in particular, is going to be the first one to go up. There is also a plan for one of these new hotels to be five-star.

The groundbreaking for the village portion of the project is planned for next spring. The convention center and some of the lifts could be ready in time for the 2021 ski season, showing that little time is being wasted on this project.

There have been no specifics given as to how the terrain of the hill will look, but with over 2,000 acres of land to play with, there could be some interesting trails to come. This includes the possibility of connecting to neighboring Deer Valley. However, that is something that will be discussed when the mountain is up and running. That also brings snowboarding into question, as Deer Valley is one of the three mountains in the United States that doesn't allow snowboarding.

As stated, this mountain is being built as a neighbor to Deer Valley Resort. The location has been reported as being next to the Jordanelle Reservoir, west of U.S. Highway 40. This put the resort just west of Park City, Utah.
