Skijoring, in this case, equestrian skijoring, involves and skier or rider being towed at behind a horse, as you can see in the picture to the right. The horse, rider, and skier/snowboarder then navigate a track designed to test both of their skills.
Though not well-known, the sport does have a good-sized following and with the launch of Skijoring Magazine, a magazine and website dedicated to one of the most unique winter sports available.
Though the official launch of the website is scheduled for August 16, 2020, the link to skijoringmagazine.com is active and you can check out news, competitor profiles, and a calendar of events related to the sport.
In a news release from Cision PRWeb, Skijoring Magazine publisher Scott Ping had this to say about the creation of these new media outlets;
"Having competed, organized and served on the boards of multiple skijoring associations over the course of 30 years, I am ecstatic to be finally launching the Skijoring Website and Magazine. I simply have a passion for skijoring that borders on crazy, and I am forever grateful for the tight-knit community of competitors, organizers and promoters of this exciting sport that I have been fortunate to call family for so long.…with the website I didn’t want a simple news website, I wanted something that would garner the participation of all the people, competitors, and organizations that make skijoring such a fun sport to watch."
This new media outlet will be something to see, hopefully making the impact that the publisher intends. As one of the more unique, and exciting, winter sports disciplines, its day to hit the mainstream could be due.
