Although Australian ski areas and resort have been basking in the glory of a storm system that has dropped as much as 100cm (3.2 feet) of snow over the past week, there is a report of one skier being killed this morning, August 10, at one of those ski resorts.

It was at approximately 10:15 A.M local time when a 68-year-old man was killed after hitting a tree at Thredbo Resort.

In a report from The Sydney Morning Herald, police reported that the man was on the Thredbo super trail, which is the third-longest run in the country when he collided with the tree.

The ski patrol was quick to respond to the accident, however, efforts to revive the victim were not successful and he died at the scene.
