Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Now Powered By The Wind

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has announced that all year-round resort operations are going to be powered from energy gathered from the wind.

The resort has partnered with Lower Valley Energy, the area's electric utility, to take part in their Green Power option. This option will allow the mountain to use power sourced from Green sources, in this case, wind power from Horse Butte Wind Farm in Idaho, the closest wind energy source directly tied to Lower Valley's grid.

“It’s exciting to partner with Lower Valley Energy in a shared effort to power our entire operation with renewable electricity,” states JHMR’s President Mary Kate Buckley.

Lower Valley Energy has also shared in the excitement of the partnership.

"We have been working on this green power partnership for some time and are very excited this came to fruition with such a great local industry leader," states Lower Valley Energy President and CEO Jim Webb.

This power change will truly take place on all of the operations of the mountain. All base operations and facilities, and all on-mountain lifts, including the iconic Aerial Tram, will be 100% run on energy produced by the wind.
