Another Early Colorado Opening -- Monarch Opens Friday

As the late autumn snow continues to bury parts of Colorado, there has been the announcement of yet another mountain that will get to open early.

Yesterday, October 29, Monarch Mountain announced that they will be able to open this Friday, November 1, almost three weeks ahead of schedule. This will mark the earliest opening for the mountain since 1969. This opening comes with bragging rights, as the snow will be 100% natural.

"The mountain has been abuzz all day as we click on all cylinders up here in order to be ready on Friday.  Slope Maintenance has the cats out track packing, grooming and winching the slopes along with loaders harvesting mountains of snow from the lot.  Patrol has been stringing ropes and pads along with getting equipment up on the mountain.  Lift Ops and Maintenance are getting ramps dialed and fine tuning our machines.  Base Services has been digging everything out and Vehicle Maintenance has everything ready to run." - Excerpt from Scott's Blog, Scott Pressly, VP of Mountain Operations

Currently, the mountain intends on opening the Pioneer Lift, Tumbelina Lift, and the Caterpillar. This will provide access to approximately 20 trails for the opening weekend, covering most terrain difficulties.

More information, including schedules, snow reports, and other details can be found at the Monarch Mountain website and the mountain's social media pages.
