Early Season Skier Triggered Avalanches Reported In Montana
There is a lot of snow falling all at once around the United States. All of that snow has set up the right conditions to make this early winter an early avalanche season as well.
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center has reported that there have been a few small skier-triggered avalanches at Bridger Bowl, Montana over the last few days, pictured below in a social media post. There have also been some natural slides at Hyalite, as seen in the photo above. Though reported and photographed, there have been no injuries reported for these avalanches.
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, as well as other nationally recognized avalanche groups and forecasters, advise anyone wishing to travel into the backcountry and avalanche-prone zones to check the area's avalanche forecast. Though this early season is a wonderful thing, it is never too early to practice avalanche safety.
