Eldora Is Rounding Out The Top Five For Hills First To Open In Colorado

Colorado seems to be rolling with the punches when it comes to mountains opening for the season. Next weekend will see the 5th mountain to open in the state.

"Eldora, the winter playground for Boulder County, greater Denver, and Colorado’s northern Front Range, is excited to announce that it will open for alpine skiing and riding on Friday, November 1, 2019, for the 2019/20 winter season."

That's right, those who call Eldora Mountain Resort home, you'll be able to get out on your hill a full two weeks ahead of schedule and one week earlier than last season. This makes for the earliest opening the mountain has seen in 22 years and will make Eldora the 6th mountain to open in the United States for the 2019/2020 season.

“We are beyond stoked to be one of the first resorts in America to open, again,” says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s president and general manager. “We’ve been blessed with more than two feet of natural snow already this month, plus ideal snowmaking conditions. Eldora has a loyal family of skiers and riders and we’re thrilled to give them just what they want—our earliest Opening Day in more than two decades.”

The mountain is reporting that the high-speed, six-person Alpenglow chairlift will start spinning at 9:00 AM next Friday morning, November 1st. Eldora’s Opening Weekend Kickoff Party will continue throughout the weekend with giveaways and live music.
Access to Eldora’s Nordic Center and uphill routes will not be available at this time. While exact details regarding which alpine trails will be open are not yet known, Eldora anticipates being able to offer intermediate and advanced terrain, some Woodward park features, private-lesson availability, and early-season conditions. Eldora’s operations crews will continue to make snow as weather permits with the goal of opening additional terrain as soon as possible. All parking at Eldora during the 2019/20 winter season will continue to be free of charge.
