The Official Opening Of The Canadian Season Starts With Nakiska Ski Area

As we continue to marvel and drool over the early start to the skiing and riding season here in the United States, let us not forget about our brothers, sisters, and neighbors to the north in Canada.

The same storm systems that have been dumping snow throughout the Northern Rocky Mountains has dumped just about as much in parts of Alberta, Canada, prompting one of their mountains to call for a pre-Halloween opening, which also happens to be the earliest opening the mountain has ever had.

Nakiska Ski Area announced the preview weekend just about a week ago and it will make them the first to open in Canada for the 2019/2020 season. They are also looking to celebrate in style, encouraging any guests for opening weekend to come dressed for Halloween. To sweeten that deal, those who do come in costume will be treated by staff handing out candy.

The wonderful early season snow also has neighboring hills looking to their opening day. Several ski areas and resorts across British Columbia and Alberta are looking to be open for the first week in November, with a bunch more looking to have a pre-American Thanksgiving opening.
