Granite Peak Ski Area, Wisconsin Breaks Opening Day Records
The wave of ski areas and resorts opening before the Thanksgiving holiday is still going strong, including one area in Wisconsin that broke a couple of its own records.
According to a report of WJFW TV-12, Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, Wisconsin was able to open with more snow on the ground and more trails open than any other opening day in the mountain's history.
"We have 21 runs open out of 68. We have 56% of our terrain open so we have three lifts, 21 runs, that's the most we've ever been able to open with," said Granite Peak marketing director Lisa Zilinsky.
Stories of openings like this have the recent early season cold and snow to thank, as well as newer snowmaking technologies and the teams to run those systems effectively.
Granite Peak Ski Area is currently running special promo deals until the 19th of December. For more information about those deals, everyday pricing, and snow reports head to the Granite Peak Ski Area website or follow the mountain on their social media pages.
