North Carolina Ski Area Sneaks In As First To Open In The East
With all of the excitement of Killington Resort kickstarting the season in Vermont and New England, a southern hill was able to sneak in and get the lifts turning just a tad earlier this past Sunday morning. Cataloochee Ski Area in North Carolina takes the top spot as first to open in the East.
The mountain was able to get lifts spinning at 8:30 A.M. which got their day started just over two hours earlier than Killington. This made them not only the first in the East to open for the 2019/2020 skiing/snowboarding season but the only ski hill open in the state of North Carolina.
Sunday, November 3, was just a preview day to wet the whistle of those that call this mountain home. The mountain will be closed during the week, but plan to reopen first thing Saturday morning, November 9.
Information about ticket pricing and the exact schedule, with snow reports, is available at the Cataloochee Ski Area website or by following any of the mountain's social media pages.
