Big SNOW American Dream Is Now Open For Business
It what could be argued as one of the more anticipated openings for the 2019/2020 ski season, Big SNOW American Dream in New Jersey opened yesterday, bringing indoor skiing/snowboarding to the United States, and North America as a whole, for the first time.
What's Inside
The inside of Big SNOW seems to be exactly as one would expect, just a small offering of ski trails to wet the whistle of those that don't typically have skiing nearby. There are three trails covering the three basic difficulty levels and a terrain park for those that like a little air with their riding. This is all serviced by four lifts, two of which are carpets, one surface lift, and a full-on quad chair.
Grand Opening In Style
Being part of the second biggest mall in the country, and one of the fanciest, it was only expected that the first indoor ski facility on the continent open with some style. Some of the first folks to experience this new facility were new NJ resident and skiing superstar Lindsey Vonn, and Olympic and X Games champions Kelly Clark and Red Gerard. Not to mention many locals who were anxious to ski and ride in New Jersey, or just curious to see what it was all about.
Skiing/Riding Less Than An Hour From The City
Generally, if one is heading out of Manhattan to do some skiing or snowboarding, they were looking at a near two hour ride to get to Mountain Creek, which is also operated by the came company that operates Big SNOW American Dream, or an even longer ride to get to the Poconos, the Catskills, or New England. Now, one can get turns in less than an hour from the city. In fact, on the right day from one of the taller buildings one might be able to see this facility from the city.
If you are interested in checking this place out, know that it is session-based, meaning one buys a ticket for a two-hour block of time, which can be added on to. More information on purchasing tickets, renting equipment, and snow reports can be found at the Big SNOW American Dream website and you can follow them on Facebook.
