Uber Ski Is Coming This Week To Select Regions Of The United States
Are you looking for a way, other than driving yourself, to get to the mountain this ski/snowboard season? Ridesharing service Uber could have you covered.
It was announced this week that Uber is going to be launching the UberSKI service on December 17th for the 2019/2020 ski season. Through this service, one will be able to request a ride through the app just like everyone else, but make sure that a ski/snowboard rack and room for their equipment is guaranteed.
Currently, there are 23 markets set to see this feature. These areas include;
- Boise, Idaho
- Boston, Massachusettes
- Worcester, Massachusettes
- Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and the Rocky Mountain Region of Colorado
- Flagstaff, Arizona
- Eastern Washington
- Seattle, Washington
- Grand Rapids, Michigan
- Green Bay, Wisconsin
- Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley
- Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, Pennsylvania
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota
- New Hampshire
- Portland, Oregon
- Portland, Maine
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Upstate New York
- Vermont
- Wyoming
For those fans of Uber and skiing/riding Northern California and the Sierra Nevada region, you may have noticed that your areas are not on the list. Currently, that have been no reports that this service is going to be available in those areas.
As for the drivers, according to a report from The Mercury News, drivers will not be required to accept UberSKI rides. However, if a driver is interested in being part of this service, they will have to submit photos to Uber showing that their vehicles are equipped for this service. Also, the drivers will be able to keep what Uber says is a "significant portion" of the added service fee for this service.
