I've Never Seen This At A Ski Hill -- A Groomer Got Torched!
I think this is the first time I can say that, though this is something I have never seen at a ski hill, I don't want to see this at a ski hill. Mostly because this could turn out to be much worse of a story than this particular incident was. Just so you know, this went down at Keystone Resort in Colorado sometime last week.
As you can see from the post, nobody was hurt in the fire, but it must have been some kind of challenge for the firefighters that responded. Yes, they did get a ride up from the rest of the groomer fleet, but how often does a fire company have to fight one off the side of a ski hill? Also, I wonder what kind of equipment they brought with them, or if they just used snow guns? But, can one fight a fire that might have diesel fuel involved with just plain water? I don't know, but a huge shout out to the firefighters of the Summit Fire & EMS squad for a job well done.
