One Million Vertical Clocked On The Ikon Pass App
Coming from a report from the Steamboat Pilot, a man by the name of Jeff Gebauer, a stay-at-home dad of four, took the top spot on the Ikon Pass vertical leaderboard on Monday, January 15th. With his youngest strapped to his back, Gebauer broke the 1 million vertical feet skied mark, making him the first person to do so on that leaderboard.
The Ikon Pass official app came out this past November, allowing pass holders to not only manage their pass but to track stats, as well. Within that is a leaderboard, offering a little friendly competition to those who are seeking it out. Though there probably won't be any kind of reward or tangible benefit from being at the top by being the first to make a million vertical feet, Gebauer gets some serious bragging rights.
Gebauer had more than just his youngest son with him when he made the milestone. He was skiing with his wife and all four children that day. In the story from the Steamboat Pilot, there is a photo of the entire family, poles raised to the sky in celebration.
Colorado's highest skier: Steamboat father 1st to ski 1M vertical feet on Ikon app
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS - In years past, it has been a tradition for dogged skiers and riders to try to log as many days as possible on the mountain. But on Monday, Jan. 15, Steamboat Springs resident Jeff Gebauer set a new record, becoming the first to ski 1 million vertical feet using the Ikon Pass' mobile app.
Congratulations to you, Mr. Gebauer! Here's to you staying on the top of the leaderboard and being the first to hit the two million mark.
