Season Ends Early, Ski Your Town -- "Pandemic Ski Leuven" -- VIDEO
Before I talk about the video, I'm going to tell you not to break any kind of stay at home or quarantine orders just to get out and make an urban ski edit. This video is also not telling people to do that. In fact, right in the first line of the description, the filmmakers make it known that all of the ski footage was recorded prior to any kind of measures put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
With that said, this film does give folks a couple of ideas on what to do if the season does end too early and it's possible to go outside and play. Brothers Sebastiaan and Nicolas Haven set out to make a non-snow urban edit in the streets, subways, and parks of the city of Leuven in Belgium. As you all know, I'm a sucker for an urban edit, so I was intrigued right away. Are you? Have a look.
Not the fanciest bit of skiing ever seen in an urban edit, but then, most urban edits are done in the winter with snow on the ground. I give them credit for trying it with no snow. Although, while the sparks coming from the skier's edges look kind of cool, it also looks wicked hard to stop.
Aside from that, the film does look nice. It appears that Leuven is a beautiful city and it makes for a really nice backdrop for the film. I'm thinking I'd like to put this city on the list to visit. Perhaps during a winter that lasts a little longer.
