The 2021 Burton U.S. Open At Vail Canceled Due To COIVD-19
“This was a difficult call to make since we’re so many months away from the next Burton U.S. Open, and we’re not sure what will be happening with the pandemic nine months from now. After playing out multiple options for the 2021 event, we realized there is too much at stake due to the potential public health risk and the financial risk for Burton to invest millions in an event that could end up being canceled.” – Burton CEO John Lacy
The Burton U.S. Open competition is the longest-running snowboard event held and has been organized and run by Burton since 1983. The coming 2021 event was set to take place on March 1st through the 6th at Vail Mountain, CO, and the cancelation of this next event, a favorite of both riders and fans, is some of the most disappointing news to come out of the competition world.

Though the U.S. Open may be down, it isn't out. From a statement right at the top of the Burton U.S. Open website to a quote from Donna Carpenter, Burton's owner and chair of the board, the event will return. “Of course the Open will be back. It’s the greatest event in the world!”
