Utah Native & One Of The First American Ski Instructors, Maxine Bounous, Has Died At Age 94

Though she was one of the first to do more than a few things in her lifetime, including being one of the first women to graduate from Brigham Young University, Maxine Bounous was also one of the first ski instructors in the United States. After nearly a lifetime on the snow in her home state of Utah and around the world, Bounous passed away on June 23rd at the age of 94.

Though a woman of small stature, coming in at just under 5-feet tall, Maxine Bounous lived the life of a giant filled with adventures that took her and her husband of 67 years to nearly every corner of the globe. A deeper look into the life of Bounous can be found in her obituary, linked below.
