Mountain Biking World Cup Will Descend On One American Mountain In 2021

After cancellations across professional sports through 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it's nice to see announcements and confirmations of the return of international competition, even for next year. In this case, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has announced the calendar for next season's Mountain Bike World Cup, which includes, though only one, a stop in the United States.

“It’s a huge deal for Snowshoe, Pocahontas County, and West Virginia,” said Snowshoe Mountain President Patti Duncan. “Last year we were given the opportunity to host the World Cup Finals, and our team here on the mountain really embraced the challenge of facilitating such a massive event. Our goal was to make a lasting impression on race fans and officials alike and to resurrect World Cup racing in the United States, and now we can confidently say we did just that. Now we’re excited to do it all over again.”

As seen in the above post from Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia, the event will be going down on September 18-19, 2021. The event will feature races in the Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) and Downhill disciplines.
