Who doesn't like a fun surprise every once in a while? A favorite of Colorado skiers and snowboarders, Arapahoe Basin gave its fans a surprise yesterday by opening up without warning. "We are open for the 2020-21 season. Black Mountain Express, servicing the High Noon trail, will be open until 4:30 this afternoon. This gives A-Basin the third-place spot on the Colorado opening podium behind Wolf Creek, which opened on October 28th, and Keystone, which opened on November 6th.
The plan was to make this year's opening a little more on the down-low than in previous years, hoping that would help keep the number of visitors down, allowing the mountain to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and ease into the new season.
