After a 300 day hiatus, the American slalom superstar, Mikaela Shiffrin was able to take to the hill in her debut run for the season. Showing the form and aggressiveness that she is known for, the comeback kid took second place in Levi, Finland. Not bad for returning after almost a year.

Also beginning again during this race is the rivalry between the two top women in slalom today. Just as it has been for years now, if Shiffrin doesn't take first, Petra Vlhova does. The Slovak slalom specialist, who took the discipline championship for slalom at the end of last season, was able to best Shiffrin by 0.18 of a second. In fact, carrying over from last season, Vlhova has taken the first slalom spot for her last four races.

Rounding out the podium for this race was Austria's Katharina Liensberger as one of four Austrian skiers to make the top ten.

The women return to the slalom course tomorrow, November 22nd.
