My Time With NEHSA at the New England Winter Sports Clinic for Veterans with Disabilities Event - Part 1

For those of you that are podcast fans, you know that the first brand new episode of 2023 featured Carly Bascom, Exec. Dir. of the New England Healing Sports Association (NEHSA). If you haven't listened to that episode, you can check that out by clicking right here or by searching for the Ski Rex Media Podcast on your favorite podcast app or on YouTube. Anyway, near the end of the episode, Carly mentioned the New England Winter Sports Clinic for Veterans with  Disabilities, which was going to be about halfway through on the day the podcast debuted. After we finished up the recording I asked Carly if it would be okay for me to visit the event on the same day that the podcast debuted. She said it was totally fine!

The following are the pieces of content that I have put together from that day. The first piece that I have to share is a bonus podcast episode that I was able to create from talking to folks, both volunteers and veterans that participated in the event. This includes an interview with Rob Sanchas, an Army veteran and skier that is visually impaired. I have always been fascinated by the visually impaired skiing technique and was fortunate enough to get to talk to Rob and two of the guides that were with him that day. If you're a podcast subscriber, then you know how to find the episode. If you are not, then you can listen to it below.

Not only did I get the chance to interview Rob, but I was able to ski with him, as well. I talk about that in the interview above, but I also captured a video during our ski day. You can watch that below. Also, don't forget to subscribe after you are done watching.

I also put some photos on social media. Below are some of the photos I took while I was skiing with the group. I did put more than this up, however. You can find those by taking a look through my social media feeds on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Please follow Ski Rex Media on any or all of those. The links to all of those are at the bottom of the page.

I do have a written article about the day planned, so stay tuned for that. You can also sign up for Ski Rex Media updates at the bottom of the page. Just add your email address and you will get updates anytime I have them.

Lastly, I would like to thank the NEHSA, its volunteers, and the veterans that participated in the event. It was not only fun but pretty educational, as well. I'll be heading back down to do some more with NEHSA before the season is out, I'm sure. If you would like more information about NEHSA, please head to their website at www.nehsa.org.

Thank you for reading this and checking out my other content. I'll see you out there.
